Outside Port Chester Middle School last week, students, staff and families gathered for the district's first-ever Rams Reunion Back to School Bash.

An aroma of freshly-made empanadas prepared by Lat-u-sion filled the air, while an artist swirled rainbow hues of face paint onto cheeks. Even local magician Lobetito made his debut, delighting children and adults alike with a slew of mesmerizing tricks.

Valued community partners set up shop, including the PTA, Port Chester's Sustainability Committee, the High School Marching Band, the Carver Center, Westchester County Government's Department of Community Mental Health, Family Ties of Westchester, Family Services of Westchester, the Clay Center and the Girl Scouts.

Atop at the garden and wildflower meadow, families picked their own peppers and tomatoes, filling small baskets with fresh produce to take home. The library had a technology support hub, where staff helped families navigate Home Access Center and ParentSquare.

More than just an event, it was a celebration centered on the importance of community, who were united by their shared dreams and hopes for a successful school year.
