Welcome back to Staff Spotlight! Today we’re featuring Stacey Losito, a proud Port Chester graduate who returned to the district as a computer teacher after earning her Master’s in Educational Technology at Iona University. Her full-circle journey reflects both her technical expertise and her lifelong dedication to the Port Chester community.

What inspired you to pursue a career in education?

After PCHS, I earned my Master’s in Educational Technology at Iona College (now Iona University). My passion for computers began early, inspired by my father’s career at IBM. While at Iona, I was hired as a Computer Teacher in Port Chester. One of my schools was my alma mater, Park Avenue.

How has your role at the district evolved over the years?

When the Computer Teacher role was phased out, I transitioned into my current administrative position. I now use my skills, especially in graphic design, for professional development banners, Board of Education materials, and more. This September marked my 31st year with the district!

What do you find most rewarding about your work here?

As a teacher, I loved impacting students. One even told me years later that I inspired them to pursue a degree in computers. In my administrative role, I value supporting teachers, staff, and students, and helping the district achieve Success for Every Student.

Can you share a memorable experience or success story?

Career highlights include leading the Mentors and Mentees’ Meet & Greet at Crawford Park, organizing New Teacher Orientation, and managing Superintendent Conference Days with CTLE certification. Most meaningful has been the strong professional relationships I’ve built, many lasting long past retirement.

What’s one fun fact about yourself or something you enjoy outside of work?

I stay active with Zumba, which brings a Latin-inspired twist to the dance routines I grew up loving. I also have a passion for singing, from church choir to karaoke. Recently, a friend recorded me covering songs like Time After Time, Dreams, and Love is a Battlefield.

Do you have a favorite quote or life mantra that inspires you?

My favorite quote is John C. Maxwell’s, “Teamwork makes the dream work.” I also live by my mother’s advice: “Take a Zero.” It reminds me that perfection isn’t everything. We all need grace, balance, and pride in our efforts, even when things don’t go as planned.
