Dear Ramily,

As we wrap up another school year, I encourage everyone to savor the summer and take time to be kind—to yourselves and to others. As we celebrate graduation season, my message to students is one of reflection, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence.

This year, I find myself inspired by the timeless tale of The Little Engine That Could. Within its simplicity lies a powerful lesson: determination and a positive attitude can help us overcome even the toughest challenges. This summer, I urge you to carve out time for self-care and to normalize the practice of positive self-talk. Just like the little engine, believing in yourself can carry you far.

The story also reminds us of the importance of helping others and leading with empathy—skills that are essential not just for school, but for life. By embracing a growth mindset and speaking to ourselves with encouragement and compassion, we gain the resilience to face our fears, break through obstacles, and remain open to learning from those around us.

On the topic of perseverance and self-belief, I had the privilege of ending the school year with members of the Port Chester Pearls/My Sister’s Keeper. Dr. Rich Kennedy, Mr. Avila, and Ms. Bonilla joined us for a session focused on building a strong digital footprint and creating space for intentional reflection. These remarkable young women shared their stories, their dreams, and their confidence in who they are becoming. It was a powerful and uplifting way to close the year.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025—and to the families, guardians, and loved ones who have supported them every step of the way. May your summer be filled with joy, self-compassion, and continued growth. Keep “chugging along” with empathy, positive self-talk, and a renewed sense of confidence.

Wishing you a joyful and restorative summer. I can’t wait to see you in September!

Sincerely,

Dr. Aurelia Henriquez
