Port Chester High School’s choral students and lead performers in the upcoming spring musical, The Addams Family, recently experienced a taste of Broadway with a visit to Open Jar Studios, one of New York City’s premier rehearsal spaces. Organized by Choral Director Jonathan Pereira, the trip featured an exclusive vocal workshop led by renowned Broadway vocal coach Tyler Capa.
Much like the Broadway stars who regularly train at Open Jar Studios, students had the opportunity to rehearse songs from The Addams Family and receive personalized feedback from Capa. The experience not only helped refine their vocal technique but also provided insights from a respected industry expert.
It was a great opportunity for our students, said Pereira. They were able to polish their performances for the upcoming show and gain real-world knowledge about what it takes to succeed in musical theater.
The trip underscores the district’s commitment to high-quality arts education and real-world performance experiences for students.
