Dear Ramily:
I am excited to share the improvements and great strides we continue to make together as a school district and community. Over the past three years, we have made significant progress in bolstering opportunities for our students to have a voice at the decision-making tables that shape their education and community.
As Superintendent, I have had the privilege of meeting with various groups of students at both the middle school and high school, and I am thrilled to announce that this year will be no exception. I will be collaborating with the Superintendent and Principal Student Advisory Groups to ensure that our students are represented in important discussions. The administration and their teams will assist in selecting students who will serve as advocates during our meetings.
Together, we will tackle a variety of topics, including bullying, community schools, civic engagement, safety, college and career readiness, the Portrait of a Graduate, new graduation requirements, and more. These meetings are a continuation of the work we began three years ago and complement our existing student board liaisons and numerous student focus groups taking place throughout our district.
I want to emphasize that by including students, not only are we empowering them but we are also learning more about ourselves and the areas in which we can improve as educators. The insights gained from these student advisory groups, along with our My Brother's Keeper and My Sister's Keeper initiatives (also known as Port Chester Pearls and Rams Rising), will pave the way for a bright future for both our schools and the entire community.
I would also like to take a moment to celebrate our community partners for their ongoing support. Your dedication plays a vital role in our collective success, and I am grateful for the collaboration we share in fostering an environment where our students can thrive.
Thank you for being an integral part of this journey. Together, we are ensuring #SuccessForAll!
Sincerely,
Dr. Aurelia L. Henriquez
Superintendent of Schools
