Port Chester High School’s gym was filled with energy, school spirit, and friendly competition as students and staff came together for the highly anticipated Staff vs. Varsity Basketball Game. The celebratory event was designed to bring the school community together while recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of this year’s Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams.

Organized to celebrate a successful season and strengthen connections between students, coaches, and staff, the event highlighted the pride and unity that define Ram Nation. Both varsity teams entered the game following impressive seasons, earning the respect and admiration of their peers, teachers, and the broader school community.

The game itself delivered excitement from start to finish. With staff entering on a two-year winning streak, the varsity players were determined to rise to the challenge and reclaim the title. In a thrilling finish, the students secured a 54–53 victory, while the staff had one final chance to win on a three-pointer at the buzzer, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the very last moment. Student Justin Tenezaca, varsity point guard, added to the excitement with a swish from half court to win a $50 prize. During halftime, raffle winners also had the opportunity to take their own half-court shots for a cash prize, bringing even more fun and anticipation to an already electric atmosphere.

Students in attendance agreed that the event was unforgettable. Senior Camila Loyo shared, “The basketball game was by far one of the most fun and engaging events I’ve been to all year,” while sophomore Ambar Mercedes added, “If you weren’t there, you really missed out.”

Beyond the competition, the event served as a powerful reminder of what makes Port Chester special. As Ram Nation Advisors Mr. Stabile and Mr. Kravitz noted, “Events and activities outside the classroom like these help build stronger and more authentic relationships between students and staff.”

Assistant Principal Ms. Barone of Port Chester High School echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the spirit of the evening: “The students-versus-staff basketball game isn’t just about the final score. It’s about the energy in the gym, with teachers, students, and families cheering from the stands. Ram Pride made us all winners.”

With a packed gym, enthusiastic fans, and a shared sense of pride, the Staff vs. Varsity Game was more than just a game. It was a celebration of teamwork and the unmistakable spirit of Ram Nation.
